Simple Plan Concert Pictures @ Pacific Coliseum

Wow, another concert within 2 days! I went to see Marianas Trench and Simple Plan last night at the Pacific Coliseum. These Kids Wear Crowns and All Time Low opened before Marianas Trench came on. He came out of a box, which was pretty awesome (see the video below). Simple Plan started a bit after 9 and they had a funny video sequence to open but the sound cut out due to some technical difficulties, which was a total bummer. Regardless, the Coliseum was packed and it was a great concert. The crowd had lots of energy and all the groups were very fun and engaging.

LMFAO & Far East Movement Concert Pictures @ Pacific Coliseum

I went to the LMFAO and Far East Movement concert at the Pacific Coliseum on Thursday. It was actually featuring several Cherrytree Pop artists that opened for LMFAO. I had a pass for a VIP meet and greet backstage so I missed most of the opening acts.

Tweet Up with Indigo Green Room @ C Restaurant #VanIndigoTweets

Everyone's always curious to know the faces behind the Twitter handle so when I heard Indigo Green Room was having their first tweet up in Vancouver, I just had to get an invite! Who doesn't love some good food and good company with book lovers?

The tweet up was held at C Restaurant in the the private Wine Cellar Room (it's actually a wine cellar). There were 7 guests, and 3 people from Chapters, including Jeremy Cammy, the man behind @indigogreenroom on Twitter! Everyone was encouraged to tweet throughout the dinner and post pictures using hashtag #VanIndigoTweets.

We had a modified dine out menu that included 5 courses and a couple of tasters. We started with the Amuse Bouche - a smoked salmon cannelloni. Next was a beet panzanella salad, then a seared albacore tuna with winter minestrone. For the mains, we had the Like Babine salmon with squash and brussel sprouts (it was very good!) and the beef tenderloin with portobello mushroom, followed by spiced chocolate pudding with crisp caramel puffed rice for dessert and a mini lemon poppy-seed biscotti for the Petit Fours. Everything was beautifully presented, and tasted delicious. the service was excellent! I only wish I had brought my camera so I could post photos here! Conversation ranged from books we enjoy reading to contesting and Groupons to companies with the best online presence. For some fun, everyone was asked to bring a picture of an animal that represented them as well as their favorite book. It was nice to be exposed to books I've never would have heard of, plus books that are my favorites as well!

As an added bonus, everyone received a swagbag, that included a beautiful limited edition C Food cookbook from the chef at C Restaurant (signed too!), chocolate, a game and a Chapters gift card! It was definitely a great night and I was so glad to meet such awesome people from the Twitter world.



Definitely give @indigogreenroom and @chaptersindigo a follow on Twitter if you're not already as they are one of the best companies online and they have great giveaways weekly. Plus you can stay in the loop about events happening in stores. And you never know, they might have another tweet up in the future!

Red Mitten Weekend @ BC Sports Hall of Fame (Feb 11-12)

BC Sports Hall of Fame is re-opening today after some renovations just in time to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of the 2010 winter Olympic and Paralympic games. Admission will be half priced all weekend, plus the first 25 kids wearing the iconic 2010 red mittens will get in free! John Furlong will be there for book signings from 10-12 on Saturday only, plus there will be medals you can take pictures with. There will be a blue jacket reunion for all the volunteers and workers during the Olympics, colouring contests and a scavenger hunt.

Hockey Day in Canada - Feb 11

To celebrate Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada, the Richmond Olympic Oval will be hosting a fun filled event. The admission is free and there will be lots to see and do, including an NHL Hall of Fame exhibit, games, live entertainment as well as your chance to meet former Canucks Captain, Trevor Linden! There will also be prize giveaways, including a trip to Japan. This even is happening from 10:30am to 10:00pm on February 11th.

I just wanted to thank everyone for liking all of my photos during the last competition I was in. I was lucky enough to win one of the prizes (for the Kitchen category) due to one of the contestants being disqualified. I guess it just goes to show that it's not over until it's over!

Beauty and the Beast Musical

I was lucky enough to get a pair of tickets to the opening night of Disney's Beauty and the Beast musical performing at the Queen Elizabeth Theater. I've been wanting to see it since they first came to Vancouver several years ago but tickets always sold like hotcakes! It was fun to hear the songs from the Disney animated movie, as well as songs that are exclusive to the musical. The cast was superb and everyone played the characters perfectly. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite Disney movies so I had a lot of fun.

Beauty and the Beast is playing at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre now until February 12, 2012 so get your tickets now!

Dine Out Vancouver 2012 - Herons

I look forward to Dine Out Vancouver every year, as there are so many great restaurants around Vancouver I want to try and the menus are always really good. I had a lot of trouble narrowing down which ones to go to! I decided to try a $38 menu this year and I went out with my friends earlier in the week to Herons at the Fairmount Hotel, where I've always wanted to go to.

The bread came with a whole honey roasted garlic which was delicious! You can see it in the top left hand corner of this photo.

Seafood chowder with mussels, clams, fish and chorizo sausage.

Wild salmon with arugula, rooftop honey bacon truffle vinaigrette. There are 2 slices of potato on the bottom which was really delicious too!

One of my friends had the lamb sirloin, which looked really good too!

Dark chocolate mousse cake (really good!), white chocolate raspberry macaron, milk chocolate earl grey tea ice cream.

The food was delicious and the service was great. The servers took the time to explain what everything on our plates was. Disney's Lady and the Tramp on Blu-Ray & DVD - (Feb 7)

One of the sweetest Disney movies, Lady and the Tramp, is being re-released in Diamond Edition on DVD and Blu-Ray, just in time for Valentine's Day! As a huge fan of Disney movies, this is one of my favorites.

Here's a synopsis:

A classic love story unfolds in the best Disney tradition as a lovely young pedigreed cocker spaniel named Lady, who lives a pampered life, finds herself falling romantically for Tramp, an amorous street-smart pooch without prospects. Although they have fun together on several dates, including a sentimental spaghetti dinner by moonlight at Tony’s restaurant, their relationship is strained not only by Lady’s loyalty to her human family and their newborn baby, but by Tramp’s devil-may-care attitude that eventually gets Lady in trouble and tossed into the dog pound. However, good-hearted Tramp redeems himself by saving the baby from potential harm and thus wins Lady’s love and the affection of her human family.

I think all Disney movies are great, and this one is really fun to watch, especially if you are an animal lover! The Blu-Ray and DVD are coming out on February 7th, so make sure to watch out for the coupon that Disney releases around that time so you can save on the movie. There will be a ton of bonus features on the Blu-Ray, including deleted scenes and unreleased songs!
