The Three Musketeers - Movie Review

The three Musketeers, Athos (Matthew Macfadyen), Porthos (Ray Stevenson) and Aramis (Luke Evans) are in Venice to steal blueprints of an airship made by Leonardo Da Vinci, along with the help of Athos' lover, Milady de Winter (Milla Jovovich). However, when Milady betrays them and gives the blueprints to the Duke of Buckingham (Olando Bloom), the Musketeers are disbanded by Cardinal Richelieu (Christoph Waltz) when they return to France. A year later, D'Artagnan (Logan Lerman) heads to France to become a Musketeer just like his father was, only to find out they no longer exist. When a plot is discovered to start a war with England, the three musketeers are brought back together, along with D'Artagnan, to bring it to a halt.

I really enjoyed The Three Musketeers. There were extravagant sets and costumes, there are some witty banter and over-the-top acting that makes it a really fun and light movie. There are plenty of explosions and fancy sword-fights. Plus the characters are really likable. The ending of the film sets up the movie up for a sequel, and I cannot wait! I don't think the 3D adds to anything in the movie, so save your money and just watch it in 2D. The Three Musketeers comes out in theatres October 21.

French Immersion - Movie Review

French Immersion is set in the small town of St-Isidore-du-Coeur-de-Jésus, Quebec, where five Anglos arrive to take a two week French immersion course. The school is the only thing keeping the town alive and has to survive a visit from the Ministry. The students all have different backgrounds, from being a policitician to a cook, all with different reasons on why the are studying French. The whole village is watching them, and gives them yellow cards with "En Français" written on them if they get caught speaking English.

The movie is in both French and English and is a fun light hearted comedy. With so many characters, it's a little hard to keep track of everyone. There were some side stories I thought were unnecessary. I thought French Immersion was pretty funny though (and really quirky), and it was kind of cool to hear the French and actually understand what they are saying (Don't worry though, there are subtitles!). The ending gets a little crazy and confusing and really random, but I guess it somehow works for this movie.

French Immersion comes out in theatres October 7th.

Footloose - Movie Review

Footloose, the remake of the 1984 film of the same name, gets a reboot this fall, with Kenny Wormald starring as Ren McCormack, a city kid from Boston, who moves to small town Bomont to live with his aunt and uncle after his mother dies from leukemia. He discovers there is a ban on dancing, loud rock music and there is a strict curfew for teens due to five kids who died in a car accident where alcohol was involved. Ren stands up and challenges the law to bring back dancing to the town. Dancing With the Stars Julianne Hough plays Ariel Moore, the Reverend's (Dennis Quaid) daughter.

I have never seen the original movie, but I have to assume that it was a lot better than the remake, if it was good enough for a remake. While I read this movie sticks very closely to the 1984 film, I thought a lot of the scenes were very silly and forced. It felt like the director couldn't making up his mind about the period of the movie - 1984 or 2011? Many things reminded me of more olden times with newer technology thrown in (iPods). Some of the scenes were awkwardly put into the movie and the dancing wasn't even that great. I didn't really think the movie was that great but maybe fans of the original Footloose may want to check it out.

Footloose comes out everywhere in theatres this Friday, October 14.

Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security - Product Review

Nowadays everyone is connected to the internet through some form or another - your PC, phone, tablets. The most frustrating thing that could happen is a virus getting into your system. The most important thing for anything that connects to the internet is a good virus protection software. I have been using Norton for the past year, but when BzzAgent, a word-of-mouth company, offered me the chance to try out Trend Micro Titanium, I was pretty interested because Norton uses a lot of disk space, while Trend Micro is touted to use less memory and disk space.

Trend Micro Titanium has real-time antivirus scanning technology to keep you safe from any internet threats. It also includes Social Networking Security - not sure if that link is safe to click on Facebook? Well now Trend Micro Titanium will tell you! Your personal information will be kept safe, prevent your browser from attacks, alert you to any questionable downloads, and prevents unauthorized users from mooching off your bandwidth, among other things.

A cool thing that I really liked is that the Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security also offered protection coverage for your mobile devices (phones, tablets) as well as your computers! I guess people don't really think about it, but it is possible for viruses to attack your mobile devices just as easily as your computers. As well, Trend Micro Titanium is also Apple Mac compatible, and a package includes a set of Smart Surfing protection for your Mac.

It was very easy to install and only took a few minutes. Trend Micro Titanium runs discreetly in the background and so far so good for me.

Starting at $39.99, Trend Micro Titanium comes in three different levels, depending on your computer usage. If you're interested in purchasing for yourself, you're in luck! Here is a discount code if you buy online at TrendMicro.com - BZZ30, or a $30 off coupon you can use at Best Buy. For more information on Trend Micro Titanium and system requirements, check out their website here.

Colbie Caillat Concert Pictures @ The Commodore Ballroom

Colbie Caillat performed last night at The Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver and it was a great concert. The place was packed and everyone had a lot of fun. Andy Grammer opened and had a bunch of cute stories to go with his songs.

Andy Grammer

He kept calling Tim Hortons "Jim Hortons"

Colbie Caillat drum set

She said thank you after every song, it was so cute!

"Oh baby, if I was your lady, I would make you happy..."

No encore, but she just sang straight through to the end. She did a cover of Breakeven, then her single Brighter Than The Sun and her hit, Bubbly.

Here is a video of Colbie singing her last song of the night, Bubbly. She got the audience to sing along too! Check out my Youtube channel for more videos to be uploaded soon.

Scrubbing Bubbles One Step Toilet Bowl Cleaner - Product Review

One of the chores that everyone in my family hates doing is cleaning the toilet. And that chore always seems to fall on me - the agreement is my sister washes the bathtub and I scrub the toilet. So when Scrubbing Bubbles came out with the One Step Toilet Bowl Cleaner, I was pretty excited to try it.

I was sent one to test out from BzzAgent, a word-of-mouth company that I have been a member of for a couple of years. A kit includes the base and action sprayer as well as can of Fresh Mountain Morning scent toilet bowl cleaner and a white plastic sleeve to cover the can.

It was very easy to install. Put the base on the floor and attach the action sprayer onto the toilet rim. There is a spring that allows you to adjust the height until it clips on snugly to the toilet bowl rim. A suction cup on the other side prevents it from slipping.

After the sprayer has been attached, snap the can into the base until you hear a click. Slip the sleeve over the can and then you're done and it's ready to use!

Just step on the pedal for one second twice a day and the One Step Toilet Bowl Cleaner will keep your toilet bowl looking clean and smelling fresh. The system uses a 360-degree action sprayer so that it cleans the entire bowl, even under the rim! Each can is supposed to last 30 days if you use it twice a day, and comes in two scents: Fresh Mountain Morning and Sparkling Spring. I love Scrubbing Bubbles products (eh, cleaning freak?!) and I think this is a cool new product. It smells pretty good too. I have a limited number of $5 off coupon for the starter kit and $2 off the refills if anyone wants to buy one to try on their own, let me know! The coupons make it essentially 50% off the retail price as I believe the starter kits start at $9.99 and the refills at $4.99.

For more information on the Scrubbing Bubbles One Step Toilet Bowl Cleaner, check out the Scrubbing Bubbles website here or visit their Facebook page.

The Ides of March - Movie Review

The Ides of March is a political drama directed by George Clooney. Two Democratic candidates are in the running, trying to win over Ohio. Governor Mike Morris (Clooney) is a nice guy who holds onto his principles, but the other candidate's campaign manager Tom Duffy (Paul Giamatti) is not above dirty tactics . Stephen Meyers (Ryan Gosling), an idealistic member of the campaign, firmly believes in Morris and everything he stands for and is dedicated to the campaign. When Stephen meets with Duffy, he gets into trouble with campaign manager Paul Zara (Philip Seymour). Throw into the mix 20 year old intern Molly (Evan Rachel Wood) and Stephen discovers the dirty side of politics and uses a secret as a bargaining chip.

The movie was interesting, with the first half being very focused on the campaign and getting to know the characters. There were a lot of political jargon I didn't really understand. The second half of the movie, when the intern comes in, is a lot more typical dramatic Hollywood secrets and blackmail. Solid acting from everyone, which was to be expected from this star-studded cast. The Ides of March is an interesting enough movie, even if you don't care for politics.

The Ides of March comes out in theatres today, October 7th.

Real Steel - Movie Review

In a world where intimidating robots have replaced human boxing, Charlie Kenton (Hugh Jackman), a former boxer, is trying to make some money with his robot, but always ends up losing. His ex-girlfriend dies and only takes in their 11-year old son, Max (Dakota Goyo) in exchange for cash. When they discover an old sparring bot in a junkyard, Max brings it home, cleans it up and Charlie gets him his first fight. He names the robot Atom and after a couple of amazing victories, they gain a following, which leads to Atom getting a fight in the big leagues. Max challenges the undefeated champion, Zeus, a huge and fast black robot that is designed by Tak Mashido (Karl Yune), a Japanese whiz.

Real Steel was a pretty good David vs Goliath movie, typical of an underdog story that Disney really likes to make. Gruff down-on-his-luck dad redeems himself with his son he ran out on is a heartwarming story you have seen many times. The robots were pretty cool looking, and I thought the scenes where the robot shadows the actions of a person were really cool. I'm not sure if it's meant to be a family movie, given that when you think about it, it's really quite violent with bots basically fighting each other to death. There is a ton of product placement in this movie (HP much?) and the gadgets look really sleek (it is the year 2020). Real Steel was a decent movie, and hey, if you don't like it, there's always Hugh Jackman to look at!

Real Steel comes out in theatres and IMAX this Friday, October 7th.

Kreayshawn @ Fortune Sound Club

I was lucky enough to go to the Kreayshawn performance at Fortune Sound Club last night, courtesy of Paint Yourself Pink. Created by Evans Johnson (who's super nice, by the way!), Paint Yourself Pink is a non-profit organization that raises awareness and money for the research and treatment of breast cancer. Give them a follow on twitter (@PaintYourself) and like on Facebook! It's a great idea and a great cause so DO IT! Plus there are some awesome contests for some pretty sweet concerts!

Now onto pictures and videos from the concert! Kreayshawn hit the stage at 12:30 (with pink paint on her face to support Paint Yourself Pink) and performed a few songs, including Bumpin' Bumpin', Rich Whore and Gucci Gucci. The crowd was wild and everyone was really into it. It was a lot of fun and I only wish it lasted longer!!

Here's a video of Kreayshawn performing Bumpin' Bumpin' and Gucci Gucci:

And some pictures! Sorry they are so blurry, didn't have my good camera on me.

Kreayshawn rockin' the pink face paint!

"Gucci Gucci, Louis Louis, Fendi Fendi, Prada, basic bitches wear that shit so I don't even bother."

"One big room, full of bad bitches..."

Happy ending

Check out Kreayshawn's website for a free download of Rich Whores.
