From now until February 2, those with a Nintendo 3DS can download The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition for free on the Nintendo eShop. It's a very simple and quick download, as you only need to connect your 3DS to the internet and select the game. Hurry before you miss this great offer!

With the new consoles and games being revealed at E3 this week, Best Buy and Futureshop have some great offers to save when you pre-order three games or more.

At Best Buy:

Get 4800 Reward Zone bonus points when you pre-order 3 select games online ($60 value)

At Futureshop:

Get from $6.80 to $20 off each game when you pre-order 3 select games (depends on the price of the games)

Both are comparable offers, but Futureshop has the better deal if you are planning on getting only one or two games. Best Buy has the better offer if you are buying the cheaper games (ie $39.99 for Nintendo DS), though their selection is not as large.

Both of these offers are good until June 13, 2013.

4th Annual Canadian Videogame Awards #CVA2013

Last week I attended the 4th Annual Canadian Videogames Awards, held at the Vancouver Convention Centre, right after Fan Expo. The awards are for games that were developed in Canada and released in 2012 and chosen by industry experts. I received a pair of tickets to attend as an audience member, and it was definitely interesting to watch the taping. The host was actor Elias Toufexis, known for his voice acting in Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell. There were many funny montages, and lots of voice actors for well known video games were presenters as well (which J was very excited about). It was definitely a big night for Ubisoft, who raked in the majority of the awards for Far Cry 3!

EXP Restaurant & Bar - Halo 4 Launch

Last week I went to check out EXP Restaurant and Bar on the Halo 4 launch night. EXP is a very cool video game themed restaurant that opened earlier this year, that pairs video games with your dining/drinking experience. Because Halo 4 was just released, all the screens in the restaurant had the game up, with people able to play. The menu items were all plays on names from video game themes and characters. The Master Chief burger was on special, naturally. I really enjoyed the food there, and I think I'll be going back!

Vancouver Gaming Expo 2012 (Nov 10-11)

The Vancouver Gaming Expo is here this weekend, with two days packed with games, dealers, tournaments, panels and performances. Happening at The Columbia in New Westminster, there wil be tons of things to do. Some tournaments include Halo 4, Call of Duty, and more family friendly fare like Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros Brawl. Tickets are $20 for a single day pass, or $30 for the entire weekend. Sunday adult passes include up to 2 kids free (12 and under).

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Midnight Launch (Sept 24/25)

Best Buy and Futureshop are hosting midnight launches for the newest World of Warcraft game, Mists of Pandaria. Line up early in the evening of Monday, September 24th (stores open September 25th at 12:01am).

The first 50 customers in line will receive a free t-shirt (no purchase necessary) at Best Buy.There may be some extra swag for people in line, usually by trying out the game or answering triva questions.
