$10 Gift Certificate with Reserve and Pick Up Order over $100

Best Buy and Futureshop are promoting their Reserve and Pick up in store options by giving out a $10 gift certificate to use in the next 30 days when you place an order over $100. Reserve and Pick Up saves you time since the items you ordered will be ready for pick up in the store within 20 minutes if the items are in stock. Best Buy has recently renovated several of their stores to have a different section for customers to pick up their items. This is a good promotion for those who were planning on making a large purchase! This promotion is only running from August 1 to 2. Find out more details here.

James Bond 50 Blu-ray Collection $129.99 (June 30 - July 2)

Both Best Buy and Futureshop is having a 2-day Canada Day sale online, starting today at 2pm PST. While not all the items on sale have been released for the public to see, one of the preview items is the 22-disc blu-ray James Bond 50th Anniversary Collection, on sale for only $129.99 (regular $199.99). This collector's set was previously hard to find after the initial release date, but looks like it's back in stock. I bought the set for about $153 in June online for Father's Day, so this is a pretty good price.

E3 Special Offer: Save When You Pre-Order Games at Futureshop/Best Buy

With the new consoles and games being revealed at E3 this week, Best Buy and Futureshop have some great offers to save when you pre-order three games or more.

At Best Buy:

Get 4800 Reward Zone bonus points when you pre-order 3 select games online ($60 value)

At Futureshop:

Get from $6.80 to $20 off each game when you pre-order 3 select games (depends on the price of the games)

Both are comparable offers, but Futureshop has the better deal if you are planning on getting only one or two games. Best Buy has the better offer if you are buying the cheaper games (ie $39.99 for Nintendo DS), though their selection is not as large.

Both of these offers are good until June 13, 2013.

$10 Credit WUS $20 or more on Viva Products at Best Buy (May 31-Jun 13)

Best Buy has just launched an online store of health and wellness, personal care and baby products. I found it a tad odd, since they are thought of as an electronics store, but I guess it's a good way to use any gift cards you have for the store on items you actually need and not just want! As a way to celebrate the launch, there is actually a great offer that is good until June 13th. Save $10 on your purchase of $20 or more using coupon code VIVA4ME. The discount will be applied  to the lowest priced item in your cart, up to a maximum value of $10. Shipping is also free for orders over $20. There is actually a lot of items to choose from and I was able to get a great deal using the coupon code!

Nintendo 3DS only $99.99!

Futureshop and Best Buy have an online only sale to ring in the new year, and one of the items that jumps out is the Nintendo 3DS in purple for only $99.99! The Boxing Day sales have this handheld console for $129.99 (regular $169.99), so this is an amazing sale! The sale starts on the website today at 5pm PST and ends 7am January 2nd.

Resident Evil 6 for PS3 and XBox 360 are also on sale for $19.99 each, $20 less than the regular Boxing Day sale, and $40 off the regular price!

Call of Duty Black Ops II Midnight Launch @ Best Buy (Nov 12)

Best Buy is also hosting a midnight launch party for Call of Duty Black Ops II on Monday night! The Xbox street teams will be on location at the Best Buy on Cambie St starting at 9pm so you can be one of the first people to play the game. Dress up and you can win an Xbox COD package ($180 value!). One of the game developers will be there for a meet and greet at 10pm. As well, get your picture taken with a green screen to have yourself in the game! There will be swag for those who line up, including t-shirts, posters, dog tags and more! Anyone who lines up will also have the chance to win a 250gb Xbox console!

The first 100 customers to purchase the game will receive a free COD t-shirt. There will also be 10 patches and 50 posters for the first customers in line. If you're looking for a special Hardened edition of the game, there will be 10 available per store (5 for Xbox and 5 for PS3). 

Halo 4 Midnight Launch @ Best Buy (Nov 6)

Best Buy is also having a Halo 4 Midnight launch, with stores opening at midnight, November 6. Some goodies include a free Halo t-shirt for the first 50 customers to purchase the game and a free Halo poster to the first 100 customers. There will also be a minimum of 10 limited edition Halo 4 games per store. There may be a launch party happening in your city too - check the Best Buy website for details!

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Midnight Launch (Sept 24/25)

Best Buy and Futureshop are hosting midnight launches for the newest World of Warcraft game, Mists of Pandaria. Line up early in the evening of Monday, September 24th (stores open September 25th at 12:01am).

The first 50 customers in line will receive a free t-shirt (no purchase necessary) at Best Buy.There may be some extra swag for people in line, usually by trying out the game or answering triva questions.

Best Buy Won't Honour their Lowest Price Guarantee! >: (

I was at the Cambie Best Buy location to purchase the Alice in Wonderland Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack selling for $34.99. I brought in a Zellers flyer, which advertised the same product at $29.99. Since Best Buy has a Lowest Price Guarantee policy that includes price matching as well as an additional 10% off the difference, I knew I would get the best deal here, as they were also offering 400 bonus Reward Zone points (worth $5!). This would have made the price of the combo $29.49. Disney also offers a $10 off coupon for the combo pack, making it $19.49. I went pay but the cashier said I could only choose one or the other. I then spoke with Alison, a new manager who insisted I could only get the coupon discount. However, I have been shopping at Best Buy ever since it opened in the Lower Mainland and have price matched and used coupons on the same product many times before, on the old computer system as well as the new system! I usually shop at several other Best Buy locations, but have price matched and used a coupon at all those stores, as well as Futureshop locations, which is the sister company so should have the same policy anyway. I know price matching and using a coupon is two separate things – one is the store’s policy, and one is a manufacture’s coupon. Also the coupon is not even a Best Buy issued coupon, but a Disney issued one, so the price on the product would have to be manually adjusted anyway. I sent a complaint via the Best Buy website and was contacted by Tricia, the manager, who effectively told me no.

The next day I was passing by Metrotown, so I thought I’d drop by and get the movie there, since that is the usual location I go to and have had no problems price matching and using coupons here. However, the manager from the previous store I dealt with notified all the other Best Buy locations I mentioned to her (I know because I asked the manager at this location) not to give me the Lowest Price Guarantee. I think it is in very poor taste that the manager at the initial location did this, when price matching is a store policy!

I spoke to my friend’s brother who previously used to work for Best Buy (Metrotown location) and he agreed that I should have been able to use a coupon when price matching. I also spoke to people outside of British Columbia, and many people across Canada were able to use the coupon when price matching at their respective Best Buy locations. It's one thing if all stores in BC and across Canada have the same rule to not take coupons when price matching, but when one store does one thing and another store does another, it's very upsetting and frustrating.

I’m really upset that Best Buy is not honoring their Lowest Price Guarantee policy – it’s not really much of a guarantee if they don’t do the price match. I ended up purchasing the product at Zellers. I can’t trust Best Buy to honour their own policies so I don’t think I will be shopping at Best Buy or Future shop stores in the foreseeable future. Best Buy needs to get their policy straight between all the stores, because it is very frustrating when one store says one thing while another store says another.
