Rio - DVD Review
Rio tells the story of Blu (Jesse Eisenberg), a blue macaw who lives in Minnesota with his companian, Linda (Leslie Mann). This is the only life he knows, as he was snatched up by exoctic bird smugglers when he was just a little baby. One day, Brazilian ornithologist Tulio (Rodrigo Santoro) comes to take him back to Rio de Janeiro to mate with another blu macaw, as they are the last of their kind and must save the species. There Blu meets Jewel (Anne Hathaway), whose only goal is to escape the man-made cage. When the two are stolen, they are chained together and they must work together to find their freedom, which proves difficult as Blu has never learned to fly. Nigel, a cockatoo who works for the bird smugglers is after them but they get help from friends Rafael (George Lopez), Nico (Jamie Foxx) and Pedro (Will.i.am).
Rio is a great family friendly movie that an all age audience will enjoy. It's a very colourful movie with all the different exotic birds in the opening sequence and also very flamboyant, as the scenes in Rio take place as the carnival is happening. The voice cast is great and a perfect fit for the characters. The DVD special features include a deleted scene and a music video with Taio Cruz, as well as a jukebox that includes all the catchy songs from the movie so you can sing along or boogey around your house to it. There is also a special code to unlock 15 levels of Angry Birds Rio for your computer or mobile phone. The DVD and Blu-Ray is out in stores now!
