1Up Subscription Box - Galaxy [December 2015 Unboxing]

Another subscription box has arrived! Despite today being a stat holiday, Canada Post had some people working, so my December 1Up Box arrived this morning! This month's theme was Galaxy, since it's Star Wars month so I was hoping there were going to be some cool Star Wars items. The box is pretty small (compared to the Smuggler's Bounty Box), but let's get into it!

This is what you see when you first open the box. Looks like some Star Wars stuff....!!!

The first item is a lanyard featuring a bunch of characters from Star Wars and Star Trek.

Next up is this super hairy Chewbacca plush toy from The Force Awakens. It's going to sit next to my Quatchi plushie!

This month's t-shirt is a mashup between Star Wars and Totoro. There is a Death Star as the moon (that's no moon!), Luke and Leia, Chewbacca as Totoro, a snow Yoda and Darth Vader in the background. It's a Gildan brand shirt which isn't the best quality but the material is pretty thick.

One of the filler items is a 1Up Box branded inflatable green light saber. I didn't blow it up but I imagine it would be pretty fun to have some light saber fights if you had two of these!

This one is for Star Trek fans - a Captain Kirkby art print featuring a mashup between Star Trek and the adorable Kirby.

There is a cute Rocket Racoon sticker included.

Each 1Up Box comes with a button for that month. The Galaxy button features Wall-E holding a potted Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy!

Here's everything that was in the box (including an info card that tells you what is inside). What did you think?

The 1Up Box starts at $29.95 USD month to month, but use coupon code AWESOME to receive $3 off your first box. With the exchange rate, this box came up to $38.61 CAD. Were the contents worth almost $40? Probably not...but I guess I'm really just paying for the surprise!

The January subscriptions are open now and it sounds like a promising box - the theme is Legend and promises to come with an epic t-shirt and a Funko product (does this mean a Funko Pop! Vinyl or something smaller like a Dorbz or Funko Pocket Pop?). Sign up for 1Up Box here.

Galaxy S3 - Smart Stay #TakePart2012

Another new feature of the Samsung Galaxy S3 is the Smart Stay feature. Instead of always having to touch the screen to keep your phone awake, or having it shut off constantly, the Smart Stay feature will detect when you are looking at the screen, so it will never turn off if you're reading an email or watching a video! If you look away or fall asleep, the screen will shut off itself to save battery. It's pretty amazing! Check out this fun video of a staring contest I had with the Galaxy S3!

Share Files with S-Beam! #TakePart2012

S-Beam is a great new feature on the Samsung Galaxy S3. I have taken hundreds of photos and many videos of my time in London and now I can share it in moments! S-Beam uses NFC technology and wi-fi direct to make sharing files quick and easy. All you have to do it put two S3 phones back to back and tap on the content you want to send. You can share anything you want, from contacts and urls to pictures and videos. I've taken a video to show you how easy it is!

Burst Shot & Best Photo Features on the Samsung Galaxy S3 #TakePart2012

Since I do multiple presentations a day about the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone, I thought I'd start writing about some of the cool features of the phone here too!

Burst shot is perfect for taking pictures at an Olympic game - they are all fast-paced, the athletes are zooming around the court and you want that perfect gold-medal moment! Burst shot allows you to take 20 photos in 3 seconds, which is amazingly fast! I can think of many times I wished I had this option when I'm taking pictures of things! The phone keeps all of the photos so you can sort through them yourself.

Photo from Samsung.ca
Best photo is also a new feature of the Galaxy S3. When you turn on the best photo option, the phone will take 8 pictures and then choose the best one for you! The intelligent camera and phone will detect if someone is smiling or blinking and will choose the best photo based on that, as well as the colour and saturation of the photo.

I wish I had a video of the phone to show you just how fast it is - I will definitely take one tomorrow and update here!

Limited Edition Team GB Samsung Galaxy S3 Covers #TakePart2012

Everyone wants something with the Union Jack flag on it, and with the Olympics on, it's more popular than ever! There are a couple more limited edition phone covers for the Samsung Galaxy S3 for those who purchase the phone (not from the Samsung PIN). The case is free with purchase. I really like the lion cover!

Green Stonehenge Pins Galore! #TakePart2012

The Samsung Olympic pin craze has reached a new high, as the end of the competition is nearing and everybody is looking for the rare green Stonehenge and green Kew Garden pins. Many lucky people have won today, so there are only a few Samsung Galaxy S3 phone prizes remaining! At Old Spitalfields Market today, the Samsung staff were giving out loads of the green Stonehenge pin, by the bagful! This means a lot of people is only looking for the elusive green Kew Gardens pin! Good luck to all the pin collectors!

Victoria and Albert Museum #TakePart2012

One of the museums that everyone who lives in London raves about is the Victoria and Albert Museum. While not quite as exciting as The National History museum (to me anyway!), there were many interesting sculptures and artifacts found at the V&A museum that makes it worthwhile to visit. There is quite the eclectic mix of things to see, from ballgowns to sculptures to snuff boxes. The museum is a bit of a maze, with six floors of exhibits, so make sure you have ample time to wander through. I was pressed for time so sped through as many exhibits as I could, though I wasn't able to see everything. The jewelry exhibit was one of my favorites.

The Samsung PINs around the city of London have started a new promotion! Now whenever you purchase a Samsung Galaxy product from one of the PINs, you get a chance to win a pair of tickets to an Olympic sporting event! The event tickets are a hot commodity, so if you're planning on buying yourself a brand-spanking new Samsung toy, make sure you do it at the PIN! The promotion of receiving a free limited edition London Olympics Samsung Galaxy S3 cover with the purchase of the S3 is still ongoing as well.

The contest is open to people age 16+ and will run until August 10th, 2012.

Shopping on Oxford Street #TakePart2012

I got up early today to fit some shopping in, so we took the bus down to Oxford Street where I picked up some trinkets as gifts. It was cool seeing all the London themed merchandise and all the tourists shopping. It was really busy, even though it started sprinkling a little bit.

Flags all down Oxford St.
Adorable plushies!
Of course, I visited the Disney Store UK.
G'day Donald!
I really do heart London.
While down there, we passed by a Vodafone shop, where we saw the Samsung Galaxy S3 being advertised so we popped inside! There was a whole floor and demo area designated to the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note and Tab 2. It was nice to see and the salespeople were really friendly!

ZOMG - Giant Samsung Galaxy S3!
Demonstration both - it's very comfy!
Who is that good looking model? ;P
I feel like I should get on stage and start my presentation!

Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner! #TakePart2012

It was a very exciting day today at the Samsung PIN at Westfield because someone had completed the pin collection and came in to redeem the 49 pins for 1 of 100 Samsung Galaxy S3 phones!

The place was a madhouse as people were trying to win pins, swap between each other and generally just wait around for the rare green Stonehenge and Kew Garden pins. It was really nice to see that someone had actually won after so much effort!

Samsung Mobile PIN @ Westfield #TakePart2012

With the start of the Olympics, it was time for the Mobi!lers to start presenting at all the Samsung PINs. We all met up in the morning for a group shot before heading our separate ways. My group took the bus to Westfield White City, and it was a pleasant 50 minute long ride through the city. It was nice to see the crowds of people and all the Olympic activities happening.

Mob!ilers from around the world!

Because the CEO of Samsung was visiting this PIN today, our schedule got shuffled around and I did not get the chance to present today. It was very nice to have time to spend at the PIN though. There were many Samsung pin collectors in the area, and it was a lot of fun collecting and trading them. I am determined to get the whole set as it would be a beautiful and memorable souvenir! As you probably know, pin collecting is the unofficial sport of the Olympics. Of course, Samsung made it even more worthwhile to collect pins - the first 100 people who collects all 49 pins, you win a Samsung Galaxy S3 phone!

After time spent at Westfield mall and the Samsung PIN, we returned by bus to the hotel. Because it was a lot busier by the late afternoon, the traffic was pretty terrible and it took about 2 hours to get back! After a nice dinner, we had the evening free, so some of us strolled back to the hotel. Here are some random pictures around the city!
