Spot Prawn Festival 2015

It was the 9th annual Spot Prawn Festival at the Fisherman's Wharf at False Creek last Sunday and of course I had to go. Spot prawns are one of my favourite seafoods! As usual, there were lots of cooking demos and a few vendors in addition to the spot prawn lunch you have to buy tickets for. Guests could also buy fresh spot prawns from the boats!

I only caught one cooking demonstration, by Chef Sean Blancard from The Beach House Restaurant. He was preparing an aburi sushi tower. One of the layers was spot prawns, lightly torched.

I went to grab my plate of food afterwards. Everyone got 3 spot prawns, with 5 sides.

Clockwise from top: 3 spot prawns, southwestern tomato & avocado salad, terra breads, pickled cucumbers, roasted vegetables & lentil salad, herb grits and remoulade in the centre.
The prawns were delicious. Three wasn't enough so J ended up buying 2 pounds the next day at T&T for the family to devour! Go get your spot prawns now, the season won't last very long!
