Swagbucks is an awesome search and win site where you can earn rewards FAST. It's easy to do and you get 30 swagbucks right away if you use the link below. So far I have cashed out for $355 Amazon.ca gift cards. There are tons of prizes to choose from, like other gift cards, cards, comics, Wii and PS3 consoles, Nintendo DS, you name it! So many prizes to choose from!
All you have to do is search and you might be rewarded with points. The fastest way to earn is through swagcodes, that are released several times a day. You can find it through their blog, searchbar, facebook, twitter, etc. Also there are points for daily polls, checking out the survey link and the daily special offers link! Now they have also added SwagTV, where you watch videos and earn 3 swagbucks for every 10 videos you watch. As well, they have partnered up with all of those Groupon type deals, and if you buy a coupon, you are rewarded with swagbucks!
Irazoo is another great search and win site that I've been using for even longer than Swagbucks. They recently changed it so that it's just like Swagbucks - you win points for searching, and there are also treasure codes. As a summer special, they brought back the rate and earn portion of points - when you do a search, you can comment and rate a site for 50 points. They limited it to 100 points a day though (used to be 300!).
Canadians are only allowed to redeem for Amazon.com gift cards, but if you live in the states, you have access to the other prizes as well, like gaming consoles, cameras, computers and other gift cards. I have already cashed out for $180 Amazon.com gift cards!

Lemonade Mouth - DVD Review
Lemonade Mouth, a Disney Channel Original Movie, stars Bridgit Mendler, Adam Hicks, Hayley Kiyoko, Naomi Scott, and Blake Michael as five high school students, Olivia, Wen, Stella, Mohini, and Charlie, who meet in detention and form a band, in a school that puts priority in sports. All unwanted clubs are banished to the basement. The teacher running detention, Ms. Reznik, is also the school's music teacher and she hears the students singing and encourages them to form a group. The five become good friends and through the band, Lemonade Mouth, they stand up for what they believe in and get their voices heard.
Lemonade Mouth is a family-friendly movie that has themes of honesty and self expression and the importance of music, family and friends. The songs are catchy and exactly what young audiences love to hear. The movie is similar to Disney's other TV movie hit, High School Musical, but with more realistic and relatable issues that teens go through. This is a great movie for the kids and you may just catch yourself bopping along to some of the songs!
The extended edition DVD also comes with a interview scene and an extra song. There aren't many more special features other than that. Lemonade Mouth is out on DVD now!

Cars 2 - Movie Review
Cars 2 finds Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) jetting off around the world when McQueen is persuaded to join the Grand Prix circuit race that brings them to Tokyo, Paris, Italy and London. The Grand Prix is sponsored by Sire Miles Axlerod, who is hoping to prove his clean fuel Allinol will replace gasoline. Mater gets tangled up with spies Finn McMissile (Michael Caine) and Holley Shiftwell (Emily Mortimer) when he is mistakened for a spy they were supposed to get information from. Someone is targeting the Allinol users and Mater must race to help solve the case before cars get put into danger.
I have never seen the original Cars movie but Cars 2 is well scripted that you don't need to know what happened in the first movie to get your bearings. There is a lot of action in this movie. Michael Caine's Aston Martin character reminded me a lot of James Bond - cool, sauve and full of the coolest gadgets. Like most Pixar movies, there is a lot of humour younger audiences won't understand, so it makes it enjoyable for all ages. I thought it was a great movie, action packed and fun to watch. Looks like another Pixar hit!
Cars 2 comes out into theatres this Friday, June 24th.

Mobilicity's CEO Blogger Contest Entry - Check it out!
I had so much fun with being one of Canada's first Samsung Mob!lers last year, creating online content to promote the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant smartphone that when I saw a contest to follow Mobilicity's CEO Dave Dobbin on a cross Canada trip and blog about everything, I thought I'd give it a go! It would be such an amazing opportunity and I'm sure anyone would jump at a chance like this. I submitted my video entry last night, so give it a watch and a "like"! Thanks!

Vancouver Canucks & Vancouver Riots 2011
The end of the hockey season ended in heartbreak and disappointment for all Vancouver Canucks fans, who were hoping the team would bring back the Stanley Cup after 40 years. The Canucks were poised to take the cup, as we were the best in the league, winning the President's Trophy in the regular season and after a rocky beginning, sweeping the Western Conference Finals! Then came the Boston Bruins. The Canucks started off great, leading 2-0 in the series. But their goalie Tim Thomas was just too good, and their players were bigger and more forceful than ours. After a long, drawn out 7 game series, the Bruins ultimately won the Stanley Cup. I was really sad to see the Canucks lose, and I'm sure other fans echo my thoughts, but the boys did a great job this season, and in the end, it's just a game and there is always next year.
What came after was a black mark on Vancouver. A handful of people had planned to start a riot and go looting, and things spun out of control a few hours after the game, with the police unable to stop the crowds. I guess it was just a mob mentality as there were thousands of people just bringing destruction to our beautiful city. Cars were overturned and set on fire, newspaper boxes knocked down, store windows smashed and people looting. I was fortunate to get out of downtown before some more serious stuff started happening and I was glued to the news at home, not believing what was happening downtown. The whole thing was a disaster and it's just surreal that something this horrendous would happen in our city. With everyone owning a smart phone nowadays capable of taking pictures and videos in HD, I'm not even sure what people were thinking, as pictures and videos were sure to be uploaded and shared almost immediately through social media, like Facebook, Twitter and Youtube for all to see. I bet everyone down there were regretting their actions the next day when all the pictures and videos surfaced. I hope they catch everyone involved and I pray that this never happens again. All the hard work pushing the tourism of Vancouver and all the good that came from the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics down the drain. For shame.
On a better note, the true Vancouver Canuck fans and people who love our city came out the next day to help clean up downtown, picking up garbage, sweeping up glass. The windows of many businesses were boarded up and people started writing encouraging messages on the board, and it was really inspirational to see everyone come together to put our city back together.

The Art of Getting By - Movie Review
Freddie Highmore (all grown up!) plays George in The Art of Getting By who questions the meaning of life and therefore slacks off in school because he believes everything to be pointless. His teachers are worried about him and the principal (Blair Underwood) puts him on academic probation. George's mother (Rita Wilson) is worried but is dealing with issues of her own - George's stepfather (Sam Robards) has gone bankrupt and has been keeping the family's financial woes secret. While sneaking off to have a cigarette on the school roof, George meets Sally (Emma Roberts), who is equally unhappy despite her popularity. They become friends - both hesitant to make a move to become something more.
George sketches in his notebook but struggles to find a meaningful subject or idea to paint in art class. When a graduate of their highschool, Dustin (Michael Angarano), who is also a semi-sucessful painter comes in for a presentation, George thinks he has found a mentor. However, when Dustin meets Sally, things don't go as George plans.
The Art of Getting By is quite angsty and is not quite realistic, but the young cast does a decent job. It's nothing short of a formulaic script but it's a cute movie to watch. I'd save my money for a big summer blockbuster though.
The Art of Getting By comes out in theaters everywhere this Friday, June 17th.
Green Lantern - Movie Review
The latest superhero movie out this summer, Green Lantern, casts Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, a test pilot who is haunted by the death of his father from a plane explosion and lives life recklessly. When Abin Sur crashes onto Earth after a fight with Parallax, a large entity that feeds on fear, his ring seeks out Hal as the new recruit of the Green Lantern Corps. Hal is thrown into the Planet Oa and is educated and trained as one of the protectors of the universe. At the same time, scientist Dr. Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard) is chosen to examine the alien body and is infected by Parallax, and he becomes a puppet for Parallax, to kill Hal and anything that gets in his way. Hal is reluctant to play the hero at first, but after rescuing old girlfriend and fellow pilot, Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), the heiress of Ferris Air, from the theatrics of Dr. Hammond, Hal is urged by Carol to stop being afraid and do something he believes in for once. With the threat of Parallax destroying Earth in the form of dark brown snaking clouds (looks a lot of dreadlocks to me!), Hal steps up and rises above his fears to embrace his new powers and to save Earth.
While thoroughly enjoyable, Green Lantern is not the best superhero movie out this year. The script does a decent job of describing what the Green Latern Corp and the Planet Oa is about, but I wish they would have given more screen time to the others in the Corp. The 3D makes the Planet Oa look really cool, and there are definitely a lot of 3D scenes throughout the movie. There are some great visual effects (nothing as spectacular as in Thor though) and the movie is great to tide fans over until the next superhero movie. Stay for the credits - there is a scene that reveals who becomes the villain in the next movie!
Green Lantern comes out in theatres this Friday, June 17th.

Glee: Season 1 - DVD Review
Glee was the breakout show on FOX in the 2009-2010 season and everyone really got into it, so I was ecstatic when I was chosen for the Glee Complete Season 1 BzzCampaign from BzzAgent! Musicals are hardly a new concept in TV shows as there are always the odd special musical episode on a number of hit TV shows. But the creator of the series Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck) was the first to have the whole show as a giant musical. With the success of Disney's High School Musical, it was only a matter of time before something like Glee came about, though Glee is nothing like the sugar-coated Disney-fied scenarios of HSM.
Season 1 of Glee finds Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) trying to revive a dying Glee Club by recruiting new members. Only a handful of misfits join but as the season progresses, the club doubles in size, with jocks and cheerleaders joining the Glee Club, though all with different reasons or motives for being there. The musical numbers are always fun to watch and listen to. Glee covers a diverse group of songs and the cast does an amazing job with the covers. The mash-ups are always really cool. As the show gained more popularity, there were more celebrity guest stars including Kristin Chenoweth and Neil Patrick Harris. It's difficult to pick a favorite episode because I really liked them all.
There are 22 episodes in season 1 and the DVD set is chock full of special features, including Glee Sing-Along Karaoke, Casting Sessions, and cast interviews, including one with Jane Lynch. There are over 2-hours of extra features which is sure to keep any Glee fan happy!
Glee is such a unique show and I can't wait for the next season. I will definitely be holding Glee marathons this summer! You can pick up the 7-disc set of Glee - The Complete First Season in stores now!

X-men: First Class - Movie Review
The highly anticipated prequel to the X-Men franchise tells the story of how the X-Men team started. X-Men: First Class starts off in Auschwitz where the young Erik Lensherr is challenged to display his magnetic powers by Nazi official Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon), goading him on by threatening to shoot Erik's mother. Elsewhere, Charles Xavier meets Raven/Mystique stealing food from his kitchen and he takes her in, soon becoming fast friends.
Years later, Erik (Michael Fassbender) searches for Nazis and kills them as revenge for what they did to his parents when he was a young boy. Charles (James McAvoy) and Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) are recruited by the CIA to start a special division of mutant powers. Erik and Charles meet and Erik decides to join forces with Charles and the CIA. They search for mutants around the world, and they are trained to focus their powers. They must take down Shaw, who is bent on starting World War III, but due to fear and misunderstanding, the US and Russian armies focus their nuclear missiles to destroy the mutants.
X-Men: First Class was an excellent movie with very cool special effects. It was very interesting to see the back story of all the mutants and how they all met. The casting was good - McAvoy conveys the intelligence the future Professor X needs and Fassbender plays the role of tortured but ruthless Magneto very well. There was a surprise cameo from a future X-men that was very entertaining. First Class is definitely a movie you don't want to miss!
X-Men: First Class is out in theatres now.

Thor - Movie Review
Thor kicks off the string of Marvel universe summer blockbusters, staring Chris Hemsworth as the arrogant Norse god of thunder, Thor. Thor is about to inherit the throne of Asgard from Odin (Anthony Hopkins) when their foes, the Frost Giants of Jotunheim breaks into their lands. Thor recruits his friends and his brother, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) to invade Jotunheim which threatens the peace between the two worlds. Odin is enraged and strips Thor of all his powers, banishing him to Earth. He must prove himself worthy before he is again able to wield his hammer, Mjolnir. On Earth, he meets Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), a storm-chasing scientist, her mentor Dr. Erik (Stellan Skarsgard) and assistant Darcy (Kat Dennings). With Jane, Thor learns his lesson in humility and humanity and he must step up to save the humans and the kingdom of Asgard from destruction.
The first thing I have to say is that Thor has spectacular visual effects, sweeping landscapes and amazing digital effects. Wow! It was certaining amazing to see the fictional worlds and characters brought to life. Little-known Aussie star Hemsworth fits the role of the arrogant Norse god perfectly and you can't help but feel sorry for Loki, who just wants his father's love. I definitely recommend Thor, especially to Marvel comic fans! With several other Marvel movies slated to come out this summer, I'm hoping the others will be just as good!
Thor is out in theatres everywhere now.

Super 8 - Movie Review
Super 8 is a science fiction film written and directed by J.J. Abrams (of Alias and Lost fame) and produced by Steven Spielberg. A group of teens (Riley Griffiths, Joel Courtney, Elle Fanning) are making a movie with a Super 8 mm film camera for a film competition and have snuck out to the train station, when a train crashes. They happen to catch some of it on film and they discover that something inhuman has escaped from the train. The local deputy tries to investigate the cause of the accident, however, government officials make it very difficult for him.
Super 8 started off quite slow and seemed to drag on forever and doesn't really pick up until halfway through the movie. The teens are great and there are some spectacular explosions, especially the train crash. The ending is reminiscent of Spielberg's E.T. and is a tad cheesy. However, I do recommend Super 8 to any sci-fi fan as it is a worthwhile movie to go see in theatres. Stick around for the credits as well, since they play the movie that the kids were working so hard to make within the movie. It's pretty hilarious too!
