Great Deals at Walmart Anniversary Sale!
It's that time again - Walmart's anniversary event sale! There are always amazing deals, especially on games and DVDs (my favorites!). This year, some of the things that jump out at me are:
- Nintendo Wii Mario Kart bundle - $118
- Just Dance & Just Dance 2 Wii games - $19 each
- Super Mario Galaxy 2 - $39
- Select DVDS - $5
- Select DVDs, Blu-Rays, TV boxed sets - $10
- 8gb iPod Touch - $228
- HDMI DVD Player - $19
- Garmin Nuvi 1350 GPS - $98
- Caltrate calcium pills - $6.77
- Select Hasbro boardgames - $10
- Listerine bonus pack - $5.77
- Dawn Dish Soap - $1.37
There are many more deals, but these are the ones that are pretty interesting to me and that I think are super sale prices. And I would know, because I (used to) shop a lot. Make sure you go early, as some items will probably sell out quickly, and there are also limits on other things so you may want to make multiple trips if you're planning to stock up.
Remember if Walmart is too far for you, you can always price match these deals at other stores. Don't forget about your coupons as well!! For electronics, price match them at Best Buy, Futureshop or Staples to receive an additional 10% off the price different!

Canadian Tire Scratch Cards (Sept 16-18)
Canadian Tire is holding another scratch card event to celebrate their birthday! The scratch cards should have been delivered with your Wednesday papers and is tucked into the Canadian Tire flyer. This time, the prizes are $5 off, a coupon for a McCain Deep'N Delicious cake or 1 of 3 prizes of $5000 in Canadian Tire gift cards!
The scratch cards are one of my favorite Canadian Tire promotions because they have no minimum purchase restrictions on the $5 coupon. That means you can buy stuff up to $5 worth and get it absolutely free! The cake isn't too bad either. Make sure you go early as it's a zoo every time this promo is on and all the great deals in the flyers are usually sold out by Sunday. This event is going on from Sept 16 to 18.

Drive - Movie Review
Drive stars Ryan Gosling as a movie stunt driver, who also moonlights as a getaway driver for anyone that hires him. He gives them a five minute window to do anything they need to and he just drives. Gosling's unnamed character lives down the hall from Irene (Carey Mulligan) and her son; a spark of romance is there, but nothing happens as her husband is being released from jail. The driver gets caught up in a crime filled world while trying to protect Irene and her son. It's a compelling story and the acting was amazing. Gosling's driver is man of few words in this film, but he was able to convey all the emotions required. There are some violent scenes, but it doesn't take away from who the characters are. I definitely recommend this film as it is quite different from the flashy action movies that have been out lately.
Drive comes out in theatres today, September 16.

Ke$ha Concert Pictures @ Rogers Arena
I went to the Ke$ha concert last night and had a blast. Spank Rock opened, followed by LMFAO. They were pretty crazy, and the crowd went wild, just party rockin' to all their songs. There were blow up zebras and beach balls being floated around the crowd on the floor. Ke$ha finally came out and sang a bunch of her hits, including Tik Tok, Blah Blah Blah and We R Who We R. There was glitter everywhere, glowsticks in the audience, and just a giant dance party in Rogers Arena! It was definitely fun times! Here are some pictures from the concert, courtesy of Depotato. Check out her blog here for more great photos!
The encore was pretty much utter chaos, with an Elmo pinata being bashed to bits, and people running around the stage!
I've also taken some videos of some of a my favorite Ke$ha songs, which I'm currently uploading onto Youtube, so check out my channel for more videos! Here's one of Ke$ha performing Blow.

Contagion - Movie Review
Contagion is a thriller about a lethal virus that is spreading throughout the world at a very fast rate. The film boasts a very impressive cast, which includes Matt Damon, Marion Cottilard, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Laurence Fishburne and Gwyneth Paltrow. The stories of the different characters are intertwined, as the CDC is brought in to deal with the deadly virus as well as control the panic that is spreading among the people around the world.
The movie is certainly an eye-opener of such an obvious fact - that we touch our faces, each other, food, hundreds of objects each day that contains germs and how easily it can be passed on from person to person, even around the world (ie. at airports). It was also very interesting to see how pandemonium can break out when ordinary people are panicked. It's certainly very believable that even normal people, when faced with the possibility of death, has a switch that turns on that makes them forget all modicum of society and being civil in their quest for survival.
After watching the movie, I may just have to start washing my hands a lot more...Remember not to use anti-bacterial soap though, as that's just an invite for the creation of superbugs that there will not be any cures for, and then real pandemonium will break out.
Contagion is out in theatres everywhere today, Friday, September 9th.

The Taiwanfest is back again this year, sponsored by Telus. Last year it got rained out but there were still plenty of people who went to check things out. Once again, there will be several locations where things will be set up for the festival. There are lots of things to check out, including performances, sponsor booths and food (Beed Noodle Kitchen seems to be the big advertised one). Booths will be set up at the Vancouver Art Gallery, on Granville Street and at Roundhouse Community Centre. For more details about the Taiwanfest including the schedule, check out the website here.
